Workshop description :

All of my Courses are "hands-on" and designed so that students learn different aspects of the art of Millinery, in an informative and fun way and in a non-threatening environment! I have structured this workshop below over a 2 day format.

Workshop summary This information packed workshop is about how to actually create and design hat patterns, opening a new world of possibilities for the sewing enthusiast wanting to turn their talents towards millinery without the messy process of steaming and blocking. Whilst this course will touch on traditional hat making techniques, participants will be encouraged to be more creative and experimental with shapes, materials and themes to produce a unique hat or hats that not only look great but fit perfectly.

Suitable for Secondary school students and adults. All levels of experience welcome in this class, however basic machine sewing skills needed.

More about this inspiring textile tutor:

Christine worked at Opera Australia from June 1995 until August 2010 - initially as an Assistant Milliner and since March 2000 as their Head Milliner, taking time out in 1999 to work on the film "Moulin Rouge" as a costume milliner.   She specialises in producing original millinery from design drawings by Australian and International costume designers, which involves all of the pattern drafting, cutting and sewing duties. As Head Milliner I also supervised and trained seasonal and casual staff when required.    She has qualifications through the New South Wales Technical and Further Education Commission (Western Sydney Institute of TAFE):   One such qualification (attained 2004) is the "Workplace Training and Training Small Groups" certificate, which will enable me to conduct a thorough Course in millinery, ensuring learning outcomes and course activities. Of course, this class can be counted in your professional development hours.
